Understanding the Root of Your Seasonal Allergies and How Acupuncture Can Give You Permanent Relief. (Atlanta, GA)

Seasonal allergies, also known as hay fever or allergic rhinitis, are a common ailment affecting millions of people worldwide, and Atlanta, GA is no exception. The city’s beautiful yet pollen-rich environment often leads to increased allergy symptoms for many residents. If you’re struggling with sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, or sinus congestion, wouldn’t you rather get long term relief? That is why Acupuncture is a solution gaining popularity. Acupuncture is now widely recognized for treating a variety of conditions, including seasonal allergies

What Are Seasonal Allergies?

Seasonal allergies occur when the immune system overreacts to allergens such as pollen from trees, grasses, and weeds. In Atlanta, the pollen count can be particularly high during spring and fall, making these seasons especially challenging for allergy sufferers. Symptoms typically include:

  • Sneezing
  • Nasal congestion
  • Itchy and watery eyes
  • Runny nose
  • Sinus pressure and headaches

These symptoms can significantly impact your quality of life, causing discomfort and even leading to missed work or school days

What is Causing Your Immune System to Overreact?

When your Immune System (or any system in your body) is out of balance it will either over respond or under respond when called into action. ALLERGIES is your immune system over responding … your body recognizes the pollen, grasses, weeds & pet dander don’t belong in you but your immune system is sending too many “troops” to the surface, it is over responding thus causing the symptoms you are experiencing.

    How does Acupuncture help?

Acupuncture helps achieve short term relief and long term solutions by:

    • Reducing inflammation
    • Modulating & strengthening your immune system
    • Relieving sinus congestion

I Know! I Used to Have HORRIBLE Allergies too …

For YEARS … from about age 5 until my early 30’s, I was like many of you suffering every spring with the worst allergies. And not just seasonal allergies, pet allergies too! I could walk in someone’s house and tell you within seconds if a cat lived there because I could already feel my immune system flaring up! I would literally sneeze 100 times a day! Running nose, watery eyes, congestion … It was so bad I would walk around with a box of Kleenex! My family should have bought stock in Benadryl for how much of it I took, unfortunately, with little to no symptom relief!

So what changed? I started getting Acupuncture and started taking herbs and I honestly don’t remember when it happened but slowly I was noticing less & less allergy symptoms … any I could be around cats without breaking out in hives! For the better part of the last 12-15 years I can honestly say I don’t have allergies! I also use to have Asthma, from allergies and also exercise induced, I used to carry a rescue inhaler around with me and take it before every workout … I haven’t needed to use an inhaler in over 12 years! I’ll talk more about that in another blog!

    Conclusion

Seasonal allergies can be a significant nuisance, but acupuncture offers a promising natural remedy for short and long term relief. If you’re in Atlanta, GA, and struggling with allergy symptoms, consider exploring acupuncture as a treatment option so you can enjoy the beautiful seasons in Atlanta without the discomfort of allergies!
